Dr. Preston J. Fedor, MD, FACEP, FAEMS is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with specialized expertise in space and operational medicine. Dr. Fedor holds a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis, and earned his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital and Health Network, followed by dual fellowships in Emergency Medical Services and Government Emergency Medical Security Services at UT Southwestern.
As the CEO of Lightyear Medical, he currently contracts as a Console Flight Surgeon for a private space company, supporting real-time astronaut health and mission safety from Mission Control, and as a consultant for a large electric car manufacturer, overseeing innovative field-based emergency care programs across North America. He serves as Deputy EMS Medical Director for Human Space Flight Support as a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
Dr. Fedor’s additional training spans aerospace physiology, survival medicine, mountain rescue, disaster response, and tactical medicine — developed through fieldwork and specialized programs across military, federal, and international systems. From helicopter rescues to human spaceflight support, Dr. Fedor brings deep operational expertise to the delivery of care in challenging and high-consequence environments.
